CautionsTo avoid possible damage to the IDFIS™ and/or the equipment under test,
it is highly recommended that these guidelines are followed:
· Read, retain and follow all instructions: Read all safety and operating instructions before operating the equipment. Retain the safety and operating instructions for future reference. Follow all operating and User instructions.
· Do not use this equipment on any “powered” circuits, including battery sources. The IDFIS™ supplies the necessary electrical testing stimulus needed. Failure to do so could damage the equipment and void the factory warranty.
· The IDFIS™ must only be used by suitably qualified and trained personnel.
· The IDFIS™ must be used in an environment and suitable position so that disconnection of the IDFIS™ can be effected within a reasonable time during it operation.
· All circuit board assemblies and their components identified in this manual are susceptible to electrostatic discharge/damage. Care shall be exercised during handling/repair of these items. Use electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautionary procedures.
· Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Copernicus Technology Ltd could void the warranty and User’s authority to operate this equipment.
· Heed warnings: Adhere to all warnings on the equipment and in the operating instructions.
· Cooling of the IDFIS™ is by natural convection of the top-plate only and the User should ensure that the operating temperatures are not exceeded and that cool air is free to flow around the equipment at all times; to avoid overheating do not cover the top-plate.
· IDFIS™ can be operated from either VAC or VDC:
· VAC Power Source should be either 90-132volts or 175-264volts @ 47-63Hz.
· VDC Power Source should be from 12-28volts.
· The detachable power cord for VAC or VDC operation is not to be replaced or repaired with any sub-standard or inadequate rated components; VAC mains cord rated at 240V 10Amp, VDC cord rated at 100V 25Amp.
· Be sure to turn off the power supply when inserting or disconnecting any input connectors.
· Grounding or Polarisation: If intended for use in North America, this equipment may be equipped with a polarised 120 volt 60 cycle alternating current line plug having one blade wider than the other. This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. If the plug should fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet.
Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarised plug.
· Power-Cord Protection: Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, connectors, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the equipment.
· Lightning: For added protection for this equipment during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long period of time, disconnect it from the power source. This will prevent damage to the equipment due to lightning and power-line surges. Surge protected outlet boxes are recommended.
· Overloading: Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
· At the insertion or removal of the Power and Interface Connectors, ensure that the sockets are free form debris and any Interface pins are clean and undamaged.
· All adequate ESD precautions should be followed when connecting the IDFIS™ interface adaptors.
· Object and Liquid Entry: Never push objects of any kind into this equipment through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on or into this test equipment.
· Wipe off water or fluid droplets immediately. Prolonged exposure to water or other fluids may cause damage to the equipment and connectors and may lead to malfunction or an unsafe operating condition.
· Heat: The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
· There are no hazardous materials required for routine use of the IDFIS™. However, some solutions normally used for routine cleaning may have detrimental effects if misused. Always read the labels on any chemicals that may be used, and follow the cautions and instructions for its use.
