Remove the VIFD™ from it transit cases or packaging.
The VIFD™ should be located on a safe working platform free from the risk of damage.
Open the VIFD™ enclosure by operating the 4 securing catches. The lid is prevented from opening past 90° by an internal hinge lock. Inside the unit between the Screen Panel and the Control Panel there should be a foam inset that is used to store the Keyboard and Desiccant Pack. Remove the foam insert and place the Keyboard on the VIFD™ Control Panel.
The foam insert houses the Desiccant Pack which is designed to keep excess moisture out of the unit. Please ensure that the Desiccant pack remains in the foam insert unless it is being dried out, see Desiccant Pack.
Ensure that the black Pressure Relief Valves on the Screen Panel (just above the Powered By USC logo) & Control Panel (to the left of the Ext connector on older models) are finger-tight, especially if the VIFD™ is going to be used in outside environment.
Packing
Shutdown VIFD™ and then switch off the power. Disconnect all items from the all connectors and fit covers/blanks. Initsert the keyboard into the foam insert and ensure that the Desiccant pack is secure. Place the foam insert between the Screen and Control Panel.
Ensure that there are no extra objects, sharp edges or loose object between the panels; failure to check this step may result in damage to the Screen and/or Control Panel.
Before air transportation - open the Pressure Relief Valves before closing and latching the lid.
