DemoboxThe Demonstration Switchbox or ‘Demobox’ is a 48-switch (normally closed, push to open) box, which allows the User to simulate open or intermittent circuits for practice, demonstration purposes and to carry out a pre-use functional test of the IFD™ TE.
The 48 switches on the Demobox represent the 48 lines under test from any 50-pin D-sub connector for a VIFD™ or via an adaptor for the Viginia Panel on a IDFIS™. Each switch when pressed simulates an open circuit for the line under test represented by the number of the switch; represented by the test point nomenclature S1, S2, S3, S4…..
Inside the Demobox, switch circuits 16, 32, & 48 have been wired and designated as the nodal grounds. The other Test Point are designated as follows:
NODES™ comes preconfigured with a Demobox defined as a UUT as detailed. Of course, the UUT can be copied and then changed to have the nodal grounds assigned to other switches within its node, and User defined nomenclature as required.
The Demobox can even be used to illustrate the ability of the IFD™ Technology to detect variations in resistance of the contacts within the Demobox using Continuity Testing and intermittent events using Intermittence Testing. For Intermittence Testing, to produce a subtle simulation of physical stress on the switch contacts, lightly tap/vibrate the switches and/or the Demobox itself to simulate how a UUT would display intermittent events.
