Internal SSTDR Technology
 
Some models of IFD™ TE has a built-in SSTDR provided under licence by LiveWire Innovation.

Ø     Distance to Fault Accuracy:
  • +/- 1.0%, controlled impedance cable
  • +/- 2.0%, uncontrolled impedance cable
     
Ø     Output Signal Amplitude:  0.016– 1.0 V peak-to-peak, adjustable
 
Ø     Maximum Distance Ratings:
  • Electrical Cable - 1,828m (6,000ft)
  • Data Cable - 914m (3,000ft)
  • Coaxial Cable - 914m (3,000ft)
  • Power Distribution Cable - 3048m (10,000ft)
 
Ø     SSTDR Frequencies:
 
SSTDR Frequencies need to applied to the cable under test based
on the guidance provided in the table below.

IFD™ Technology is limited to frequencies 12Mhz or less
Also the values listed need to factored by approximately 25% if the SSTDR is used through the IFD™ hardware.

To avoid possible damage to the IFD™ TE
or the equipment under test, follow these guidelines:
 
·     Do not use this equipment on any “powered” circuits.   The IFD™ TE supplies the entire electronic testing stimulus needed.   Failure to do so could damage the equipment and void the factory warranty.
 
·     Do not connect the IFD™ TE system to any additional test equipment that produces stimulated High Voltages or Currents that might damage the IFD™ hardware, and this will include insulation tests and it may include some Diode testing; if unsure then contact your Distributor for more information before proceeding.
