Pre-Use Checks

Due to the highly sensitive nature of the IFD™ test functions,  a pre-use inspection and checks should be carried out prior to every use of the IFD™ TE.  This is to ensure the safe and correct utilisation of the IFD™ TE and to quickly highlight any areas of damage or deterioration of the equipment or its associated components, thus enabling the User to have prompt corrective maintenance carried out.

With all the system components and cables removed from their transit cases and stowed locations, carry out a complete visual examination of the Analyzer, external connections, cables, connector, Demobox and any other peripherals such as the CC, if applicable.  The visual examination should focus on the identification of any damage to displays, mounting boxes, enclosures and cables.  Particular attention should also be paid to the security of all fixtures, fittings, components and connectors.  A complete check of all system components should also be made to identify any missing or removed items prior to use.

To avoid possible shock or personal injury, maintenance not covered in this manual must only
be performed by the manufacturer or by an authorised supplier.
Do not attempt to maintain this equipment yourself
as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages and
it WILL void the manufacturer's warranty on this device.

Damage Requiring Corrective Maintenance

Disconnect the equipment from the power source and refer corrective maintenance to authorized and qualified maintenance personnel under the following conditions:

Ø     When the AC/DC/IEC power-supply cord or plug is damaged.

Ø     If corrosive liquid has been spilt, or heavy objects have fallen on to the equipment.

Ø     If the equipment has been exposed to rain or water (not applicable to the VIFD™ series).

Ø     If the equipment has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.

Ø     Screen cracked or exhibits poor performance/picture resolution (or the touch screen does not operate -  VIFD™ series only)

Ø     When the Equipment exhibits a distinct change in performance – this may indicate a need for maintenance and/or a performance check and/or calibration.

Ø     If the equipment does not operate normally by following the operating instructions, adjust only those hardware and software controls that are covered by the operating instructions; improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the equipment to its normal operating condition.
