Select a DMM from the options provided.  Only DMMs that have been successfully initalised can be selected.

When the DMM Options is selected, all four DMM options are initialised to see what is available for connection.  If a particular DMM is not available then the Initialise DMM button will be shown.  Clicking this button will force another Initialisation sequence for the adjacent DMM option.

To select a DMM option click on the Select DMM button.  This button will only show in this format if a valid initialisation sequence has been carried out and it has been successful.

Connection String
4. Connection String
To connect to a resource, the correct Connecting String needs to be entered in this field.  The Connecting String can be found by using the National Instruments' Measurement & Automation program which should be on the system as part of the default installation.
Use the desktop icon to open the program and navigate to the Devices and Interfaces
Copy or rename the device as shown and enter these details into the fields as shown on the DMM Options.
For external resources, the Connecting String is generally pre-programmed into the device and can be accessed via the advanced menu or explained in the device's help file.
The default connection strings are as follows:
  • Keysight - "TCPIP0::169.254.4.61::INSTR"  (this is the default IP address for Keysight 34465a)
  • Agilent - "TCPIP0::169.254.4.10::INSTR"  (this is the default IP address for Agilent 34410A)
  • NI Device - "Dev1"
  • Sim NI Device - "Sim1"

Device Status

The status of the Device.  If found, the Device Status will show the Device's Manufacturer and the Serial No.

Save DMM Options
6. Save DMM Options
If changes are made to the details held in this view, then the Save DMM Options button will turn red; thus prompting the User to save the new information.
