For the purposes of this topic, the Portable product will be used to highlight areas that the User should become acquainted prior to use.
 
 
Portable Familiarisation
 
Both the Ncompass™ Analyzer and the CC's power supplies are auto-ranging for power grids of 100-240Volt AC, 2A 50/60 Hz.

AC Input
The VIFD™ has 2 power inputs.  The AC input is recommended as nominal 100-240v @ 50-60Hz; the power supply is auto-switching (power supply's tolerance 90-132 or 175-264 @ 47-63Hz)
The Red light will illuminate when AC power is present on the AC Input connector and regardless of the position of the Power Select Switch; showing AC power is present.

DC Input
The VIFD™ has 2 power inputs.  The DC input is recommended to operate at a nominal 12-28v with a ripple of <1.0%.
The Blue light will illuminate when DC power is present on the DC Input connector and regardless of the position of the Power Select Switch; showing DC power is present.

Power Select Switch
The Power Select Switch has 3 positions which allows easy selection between DC, OFF and AC positions.

Status Panel
4. Status Panel
 The Status Panel provides a quick reference to the User's confidence in the operation of the VIFD™.  The various status configurations are as follows:
  • Flashing Green - Ready to power up - press the Start button
  • Steady Green - Running OK
  • Steady Red - Error
  • Steady Blue - Running OK + Latched Error
  • Flashing Blue - Shutdown in progress

External Connections
     The VIFD™ has 5 external connections including:
  • Ext - External connections provides digital, temperature, humidity, 3-axis g-meter and switching channels for use with Smart Interface Adaptors.
  • LAN - LAN connection to the internal computer.
  • Instr - Instrument connection for connecting an external instrument to the Test Points.
  • USB - USB connections to the internal computer.
  • HDMI - HDMI connection that will provide a Mirror or Extended of the Primary screen.  Resolution will depend on the connected monitor – 1600x1200 and 1920x1080 (1080p)

Brightness Buttons
The screen brightness can be controlled by the dedicated brightness controls.

Start Button
The VIFD™ is started and shutdown using this soft Start button.  Refer to the Status Panel for information.
  • If the Status Panel is flashing Green, then press the Start button to power up the internal computer.
  • If the Status Panel is steady Green, Purple or Red, then use the Start button to showdown the internal computer (all applications have to be closed by the User before the computer will shutdown).
  • If the Status Panel is flashing Blue, then the computer is shutting down and the Start button has no effect.

Touch Screen
The VIFD™ has a high performance capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1280x1024.  The touch screen can be operated with a gloved hand, and supports 2-finger operations.

J1-J6 Test Points
50-Pin D-sub connectors provide a common connector type for connecting the ITA to VIFD™.
The 6 D-sub connectors shown are labelled from J1 to J6 for Test Points 1-256.  Other options available are 128 Test Point and 512 Test Points; the 512 variant has 12 D-sub connectors labelled J1-J12.

Normally closed during operation/use, open for storage and air-transportation.
