Test Piece Compare Modes

The diagrams below show the different ways in which even a simple 8-core harness can be connected to the IFD™ TE.  As described under Designing an ITA, there are pros and cons for the configurations shown, and these are worth of understanding before designing and building an ITA.
 
 
In the Loop Back Method shown below, the test points within the Male connector (on the right) are interconnected.  For example, the lines between Male-4 & Female-4 and Male-8 & Female-8 will be tested on a common node.  Therefore, if a fault is found on this node, it will be indeterminate if the fault is on Line4 or Line8.  However, this method does reduce the test point count, and, say for instance the Male connector was on the tail of a large aircraft, it would reduce the need for long cable runs in the ITA.
