AutoMap™ Test

AutoMap™ is a mapping utility to systematically find the how the TPs in each of the nodes in a UUT are interconnected.  Using optimised algorithms, the AutoMap utility generates a comprehensive configuration of the UUT called a Map File (which is needed for testing).  This process is done automatically and without the need for a detailed analysis of the UUT or for the UUT manufacturer's connectivity schematic data.  AutoMap uses the dynamic switching capabilities of the IFD™ TE and the DMM to automatically test every TP to each and every other connected TP while logging the connectivity information as it progresses.

Without AutoMap, the alternative would be to test every TP with respect to each and every other TP in the system, ie TP1 to all test points, then move to TP2 and test to all other test points etc, and do this manually.  This is would be extremely impractical and time-consuming process, and it could well be prone to errors and variations depending on the number of TPs within a UUT.

The AutoMap utility can be accessed from the Tests form. When selected the User will be asked a number of questions in relation to the AutoMap™ Options available.

The AutoMap process can be used on multiple occasions, with various options checked or unchecked for second or third runs.  In addition, AutoMap can be used to verify an already defined UUT as a cross-check of its configuration, for example used for a circuit upgrade or modification.

Once the AutoMap process has been completed, there is an opportunity to review the proposed Map File data found by AutoMap vs the existing Map data held in the NODES™ database, see AutoMap™ Review.
